Hon. Minister Nikki Kaye,
Dr. Jian Yang MP,
Hon Sir Dr. Pita Sharples,
President James Sun,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am so delighted to host the reception today in honor of New Zealand young leaders delegation to China led by Hon Minister Nikki Kaye and joined by Dr. Jian Yang, New Zealand member of parliament to participate in the second round of China New Zealand Young Leaders Forum which will be held on 7th September in Beijing, co-hosted by Overseas Chinese Exchange Association, All China Youth Federation, New Zealand Ministry of Youth Development and New Zealand Chinese Youth Federation.
First of all, please allow me on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Auckland to express our warmest welcome to all the friends present here today to the reception and to all the delegation members to visit China and also our warmest congratulation to this launching ceremony of the China New Zeland Young Leaders Forum today .
Chinese side attaches great importance to this visit, which we believe is not only a significant exchange between China and New Zealand young leaders but also a very important high level visit to China by New Zealand cabinet minister after Prime Minister John Key's successful visit to China this April. The frequent high level visits play important roles in deepening and expanding co-operations and communications between our two countries. The growing young leaders' exchange of both sides would surely add another dimension to the sustainable development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and New Zealand.
Here I would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to Hon Minister Nikki Kaye for her vision and leadership in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between our two great nations and peoples, and her great efforts to promote the youth exchanges of our two countries. And our appreciation also goes to Dr.Jian Yang and Sir Pita Sharples, President James Sun and other young leaders from New Zeland Chinese Youth Federation for your contributions to foster the ties between China and New Zealand.
The theme of the China New Zealand Young Leaders Forum this year will be innovation, entreprenuership and dreaming building. Innovation is the driving force of social progress and economic development. Our time needs innovation and needs more young leaders like you with innovative spirit. New Zealand is a nation of innovation and entrenereship. China has made innovation a national strategy. Innovation, coordination, green, open and shared development are five development approaches mapped out of the 13th Five Year Plan of China. This year's forum will provide a good platform not only for you to make connections and friends with Chinese young leaders from different walks of life, but also for you to share experiences of innovation and entrepreuership and explore future opportunities of cooperation in different areas .
Ladies and Gentlemen,
China is at the critical time of reform and opening up and at a critical time of implementation of One Road and One Belt Initiative which features making connections, infrastructure building and people to people exchanges. President Xi Jinping stated New Zealand is the natural extension of One Belt and One Road. Actually up to now, China and New Zealand have already made a lot of progress in the above mentioned three areas, such as air connection. Currently, there are 112 flights coming back and forth between China and Auckland. And by the end of this year, 2 or 3 more airlines will open non stop flights between Auckland to China. Hainan Airline, Sichuan Airline, Tianjin Airline will start direct flights between Auckland and Chengdu, Shenzhen and Tianjin. More and more Chinese companies are attracted to invest in infrastructure here. There are more and more exchanges of tourists, students and business people as well. One Belt and One Road Initiative will bring tremendous opportunities to the cooperation between our two countries and peoples. Members of New Zealand young leaders delegation to China today are the pioneers of carrying out this important initiative by building up bridges between our two countries and peoples.
