Hon. Minister Judith Collins, Ms. Virginia Chong and Mr. Richard Leung, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good afternoon, what a beautiful day today. I'm delighted to attend the opening of the Easter Sports and Cultural Tournament.
I would like to extend warm congratulations to the organizer, NZ Chinese Association, all the performers and athletes. For more than half a century, the NZCA has persisted in holding such event every year. It has become a stage to promote good health and fitness, an occasion to make friends, and a window to demonstrate the positive image of Chinese in New Zealand.
China and New Zealand will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year. To deepen our bilateral relations, it's critical that our two people learn more about each other's culture. Chinese communities in New Zealand have made substantial contributions to promote Chinese culture, and your achievements are impressive and admirable. I hope NZCA and other Chinese associations keep on organizing diverse activities, try to enrich the mainstream society's knowledge of China. Let us work together for better understanding and a stronger relationship between the people of our two great countries.
In conclusion, I wish the tournament a full success. Good Luck to all the performers and athletes!
