Notice on the Launch of Consular Authentication Appointment Service

In order to improve services, the Consulate-General in Auckland of P.R.C. has officially launched the Consular Authentication Appointment service on 21 November 2022, and from the day on applications without appointment will not be accepted. The requirements are as follows:

1. Appointment

When applicants from the consular districts of our consulate (Auckland, Waikato, Northland) apply for consular authentication, please log in to the website: https://consular.mfa.gov.cn/LEGALIZATION/ (“LEGALIZATION” are capital letters) to open the Consular Authentication Appointment page.

Applicants need to register a new account by email before logging in for the first time. After login, select OCEANIA-NEW ZEALAND-AUCKLAND, fill in the applicant's information and authentication information as required, and select an appointment time. After the appointment is completed, print the "Application Form for Consular Authentication by the Embassies and Consulates of the People's Republic of China" with the barcode and sign the form.

2. Submission

The Visa Office has opened to the public since 1 Feburary, 2023. When getting all the documents ready, applicants or agents can submit the application in person at the Visa Office on the appointment date.

Documents required as follows:

1) One copy of “Application Form for Consular Authentication by the Embassy or Consulate of the People's Republic of China in New Zealand. The application form must be signed by the applicant himself at the “Applicant's Signature” (two places in total). If the application is submitted by an agent, in addition to the applicant's own signature, the agent must also sign at the “Agent's Signature”.

2) Original and photocopies of documents authenticated by the Internal Affairs of New Zealand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

3) A copy of the data page of the applicant's valid passport (if the application is made by an agent, a copy of the agent’s passport shall be submitted together).

4) For the application of company documents, a copy of the company's director or legal representative’s passport data page and company documents that can prove the identity of the company's legal representative should also be submitted (e.g. Company Extract).

5) Other supplementary documents required according to individual circumstances.

3. Precautions

1) When submitting the application for consular authentication, please be sure to make copies of each original authentication document page by page (except blank pages) in advance, even if the contents of the documents are exactly the same. Copies must be submitted together with the original.

2) The original documents with blue ribbon shall not be opened or ruined, otherwise the application will not be accepted.

3) For authentication of a juvenile’s birth certificate, the guardian shall act on behalf, and the child’s information shall be filled in the applicant’s part of the form.

For authentication of a death certificate, the deceased’s close relative shall act on behalf, and provide a proof of kinship, and the deceased’s information shall be filled in the applicant’s part of the form.

4) If the application involves major matters, a power of attorney issued by the party concerned shall be required from agents depending on the circumstances.

5) Applicants can apply for express service at the counter, however it will be approved by consular officer and applicants will be charged for it. .

6) Please complete the payments when collect the documents and it’s Debit/Credit Card only.
