5月12日中国四川省发生7.8级地震后，中国政府和全国人民迅速全力以赴开展抗震救灾工作。灾情也牵动了广大华人华侨及国际友人的心，奥克兰许多华人华侨及部分新西兰友人纷纷向总领馆表示希望通过捐款等方式向地震灾区奉献爱心。中国驻奥克兰总领馆对此表示衷心感谢。
